Orlando Science School MathCounts Team Advances to State Competition

Congratulations to Orlando Science School’s MathCounts members for their strong performance at the Central Florida Chapter MathCounts Competition on Saturday, February 17, 2018 held at Lyman High School.

The competition is sponsored by the Florida Engineering Society. It draws hundreds of students from public and private middle schools across the central Florida. Students compete in target, sprint and team rounds, wrestling with mind-boggling math problems.

Competing as individuals from OSS were Arielle Gordon, Vidit Pokharna, Samhith Bhrugubanda, Aashrith B., Tarang G., Meghana K., and Harvik K.. Team members were Tanvi R., Omer D., Ritam B., and Ahad A.

Kudos to Orlando Science Schools for receiving the first place team award once again. Additionally, all individual participants from OSS ranked in top 24 (4 of them in top 6). Special congratulations goes to the team members and Arielle Gordon and Vidit Pokharna for advancing to the state competition.

The Orlando Science School competition math program is very proud of all of our competing mathletes and the teachers that helped them along the way. A special thanks to coaches for grooming these students for competition, organizing, and accompanying them to the event.
