Job Summary
To Serve the Students with disabilities, represent the school in all ESE-related issues, and hold 504 and IEP meetings. To ensure compliance with federal and state laws, Policies, and Procedures for the Provision of Specially Designed Instruction and Related Services for Exceptional Students, and local school board policies and District procedures.
- The staffing specialist/ESE Teacher is responsible for coordinating the staffing and educational planning process at the school. The person assigned this responsibility will be working with the district staffing specialist as well.
- Conduct, organize, and fully in charge of the ESE meetings at the school where special education eligibility, placement, dismissal and program changes occur.
- Convene and coordinate all Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Educational Plans (EPs), Individual Family Services Plans (IFSPs), Service Plans (SPs) and Education Planning Team (EPT) meetings, as determined, at the school in conjunction with district staffing teams.

Professional development is offered at an individual level (teacher) and group level (staff). Many of our teachers have attended national conferences focusing on reading, science, math, and specific teaching methodologies. Our schools have worked closely with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Valencia Community College, the McKeel Academy of Technology, The Ron Clark Academy, and motivational speaker Harry Wong, among others. Multiple professional days are scheduled in advance each school year.
Orlando Science Schools offers competitive salaries to newly hired and experienced teachers. Teachers with a master’s degree are offered additional salary compensation. Many of our teachers have additional opportunities to earn supplemental income during the school year and summer months.
