Orlando Science Schools is surveying stakeholders in preparation for the renewal of our AdvancED accreditation. AdvancED, the largest community of education professionals in the world, is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that conducts rigorous, on-site external reviews and accredits more than 32,000 schools and school systems across the United States and in 70 other nations.
We are pleased to announce that our school has been chosen to participate in the 2017 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). NAEP is the largest nationally representative and continuing assessment of what students know and can do in various subjects.
The annual history bee was this past Tuesday February 7th 2917 at Trinity Prep in Winter Park. We had a number of students in grades 7-8 that proudly represented Orlando Science and we are proud to announce that the following students have qualified for the National History Bee to be held in Atlanta, Georgia later this summer:
The Taekwondo Club is pleased to announce they have a few openings for the 2nd Semester. They will also be awarding two scholarships to cover club fees to those students who are interested in joining. If you are interested in this scholarship please provide an essay on why you would like to receive this scholarship and be part of this club.
It’s time to start sending in your Box Tops again. Please make sure that your student’s homeroom teacher’s name is on the baggie so that they receive credit. Also, make sure to check those expiration dates. (No credit will be given for expired Box Tops.) Congratulations to our last class winners, Ms. Zeratsky’s 7th grade homeroom class.
Mu Alpha Theta was formed in 1957 at the University of Oklahoma. At Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society, we are dedicated to inspiring keen interest in mathematics, developing strong scholarship in the subject, and promoting the enjoyment of mathematics in high school. The organization of mathematics clubs serves over 112,000 student members in more than 2300 schools in the United States and 20 foreign countries.
Congratulations to everyone that participated in this year’s Science Fair. We have tallied the votes and have the results! Select winners will be formally announced in the science award ceremony. Mr. Stampas will be helping out students who qualify for the regional contest next month. Please make sure you have all paperwork in order by next Wednesday, Entry form and Summary included.

This is just reminder that the registration deadline to save $40 on this fall’s 8th grade DC trip is TUESDAY, January 31st!We hope your child can join us on our exciting education adventure this fall from October 26th-October 30th 2017 I look forward to leading our 3rd annual fun and educational program to Washington, DC.
OSS Middle/High will host its 3rd Quarter Parent Teacher Conference Nights on Wednesday February 15th 2017 and Thursday February 16th 2017. Time slots will run 10 minutes in length in order to open up more time slots for each grade level. You may begin signing up for a time slot on Sunday February 5th 2017 at 8pm using the link found below.
