Summer Reading
Dear Parents/Students,
Summer reading has been a tradition of Orlando Science School since 2008. The summer is the perfect time for students to reap the many rewards of independent reading. As educators, we realize the importance of reading throughout the school year and would like to encourage reading during the summer as a way for students to maintain reading levels and skills they have acquired within the school year.
This year, all incoming K-6 students are required to pick 1 novel from the 2023-2024 Sunshine State Reading List for their respective grades. Students must read at least one book from that list as their choice novel over the summer. Students will complete a project once we return to school. It is important that the novel is read prior to the start of school so that students have ample time to complete the project.
