Orlando Science Schools placed 2nd out of a total of 40 middle school teams across the region during the annual Central Florida Regional MathCounts competition, held at Olympia High School on Saturday, February 22nd.
The OSS team, composed of Alexandria Bias, Lance Jittan, Wally Vargas, Thomas Shea, and Esha Renade qualified to compete in the State MathCounts competition hosted by the Florida Engineering Society at the Orlando Doubletree Hotel by Hilton, on Thursday, March 20th. After 3 challenging rounds, (Sprint, Target, and Team round) Thomas Shea, Lance Jittan, Wally Vargas, and Alexandria Bias received trophies for their individual rankings; 6th, 7th, 11th, and 14th place respectively out of approximately 300 students. Congratulations to all of our students that competed and we wish them good luck at the upcoming state competition.

MATHCOUNTS Competition Program
The MATHCOUNTS Competition Program is a national middle school coaching and competitive mathematics program that promotes mathematics achievement through a series of fun and engaging "bee" style contests. The program exists in all 50 states plus U.S. territories and the Department of Defense and State Department schools
