May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month! To celebrate and encourage physical activity, the PE department is hosting a week of after school activities that will be between 3- 4:30. All proceeds will go to the PE department. Sign up for activities with Mrs. Mulligan!
On Friday, April 27, 2018, the National Junior and National Honor Society students participated in the Relay for Life event held at Edgewater High School. Over seventy students participated in the event and Orlando Science team raised over $2,000 for this worthy cause.
Drama club will host its first Improv. Night on Tuesday, May 15th from 5:30-6:30pm in the OSS cafeteria. Admission is $3 a person with first-come, first-serve seating. Tickets can be purchased at the door with cash or check. Concessions will also be on sale.
The OSS Face Painting Club was established spring of 2017 and continues to gauge interest from students in all grade levels. Club members participate in various events throughout the year such as the Fall Festival, Halloween Dance Party, Model UN Day, Science Fair/STEM Art Day, and Earth Day. The club is open to both middle and high school students.
OSS Drama Club performed their production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast this past Sunday at the beautiful Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. After three months of rehearsing, making props, gathering costumes, and bringing all of the pieces of the play together, the performance was a great success! For many of the cast and crew, this was their first production while a few others were more seasoned.
This past Friday, our OSS Seniors participated in the 2018 Universal Grad Bash event. It is the annual event that allows seniors from schools all over the state to go to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure for a night of fun that goes into the early morning hours.
On April 20th and 21st, our Mu Alpha Theta members had an amazing and fun experience at the State Convention at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel. Our mathletes competed against the brightest students across the state in Pre-Calculus and Calculus events and were able to bring home a great deal of trophies! Scrabble is one of the world’s most famous board games, and surely the most popular word game of all time. There are many reasons for the popularity of this simple yet strategic game of words. Scrabble is a 2-4 player game where players try to achieve the highest overall score before the game ends. 7 Tiles are held secretly by each player at all times and are drawn from a bag originally containing 100 tiles.
The Orlando Science PVO will host a Gently Used Uniform Sale on Saturday April 28th2018 from 8:00AM-10:00AM, please be advised only cash or check will be accepted no credit/debit cards. If you have any uniform items to donate please drop them off with Mrs. Foley at the front desk. Thank you!
The 2nd OSS Chess Tournament will be held on Saturday May 19th 2018 beginning at 9:30AM. To register please email oss.chessclubleader@gmail.com , the cost to register is $5.
The Orlando Science School Band Program is selling Cherrydale chocolate bars as a fundraiser to purchase much-needed instruments and supplies. They come in 6 mouth-watering varieties, which includes milk chocolate, milk chocolate with almond, milk chocolate with caramel, milk chocolate crisp, milk chocolate with peanut butter, and dark chocolate.
The following Orange County Clerk Offices will have extended Saturday times on April 14th and April 28th,for those needing a passport. Families can visit the Ocoee, Apopka and Winter Park Clerk Offices from 9:00AM-2:00PM to apply for a passport.
