Orlando Science Schools has been working hard to find ways to give back to our community.

In addition, the National Honor Societies wanted to go beyond our local community and try to help victims from Hurricane Sandy. The societies hosted a dress down day with a great turn out from students and staff. In addition, elementary and middle/high homerooms participated in a school wide coin war and donated the jugs of coins to Hurricane Sandy victims.Mr. Murphy’s homeroom was the winner of the middle school coin war and received a donut party. Among the high school homerooms, Mr. Parrella’s students won the war and earned a pizza party. After the fundraising was complete, Orlando Science Schools was able to donate a check for $1,850 to Heart of Orlando United Way!

Faculty members and students from the honor societies visited Heart of Orlando United Way on December 19th to present the donation check. While there, they were able to meet the director, Dr.Brown, and toured the facilities. Dr. Brown also explained how the donation funds would be put to use for the Sandy victims in the New York area.

Thank you to all OSS students, parents, teachers and staff for your generous donations and dedication to education!
