We the People 2

Orlando Science students traveled to Seminole State College last Friday to participate in the state-wide final for We the People, a national mock congressional hearing competition.

The primary goal of We the People is to promote civic competence through a deep understanding of the institutions of American constitutional democracy. The culminating activity is a simulated congressional hearing in which students present testimony before a panel of legal professionals. Students demonstrate their knowledge of constitutional principles and have the opportunity to evaluate and defend positions on relevant historical and contemporary issues.

Our school had great results in the competition, winning third place overall with an opportunity to compete in the National Invitational, as well as best Unit 4 presentation for students: Sathwik D., Aadi N., Yash D., Jerry L., and Omer D.

Congratulations to all of the students who presented. This truly was a team effort.
