Article 9 Model UN Conference resizedWe are pleased to announce that Orlando Science High School had three of our Model UN Team Members compete at the distinguished “Florida High School Model United Nations 39 Conference (FHSMUN)” over the course of four days. Our team discussed and resolved, real international problems in the same forum the actual United Nations follows. They debated, discussed, researched and authored resolution papers. There were over 300 students in attendance, from schools as far as New Jersey and out of 300 plus delegates there were only 40 awards, in total.

OSS did fantastic. We brought home three of the 40 prestigious awards. Alexis D. and Avari M. both received one of only two awards in their committees, which consisted of over 30 students each. Alexis D. and Richard Scott O. received the prestigious award “Most Distinguished Delegation” for representing Belgium
in a very professional, diplomatic manner. Our days started very early and didn’t conclude until after 10:00PM.We are so proud of all three of these students for their hard work.

We also would like to recognize Mrs. Dorman, Mrs. Mallonee and Mrs. Russeth for their support over the four day event. From commuting each day to not only attending advisor meetings but meeting with other advisors from various school to gather insight and ideas. With the outstanding success of this event and new idea and insight gathered we are excited to be moving forward with our Model UN Team! Congratulations to all on a job well done
