1. Central FL Regional Sci Olympiad Tour Copy

OSS Middle High teams had an exceptionally successful day at the Regional Science Olympiad tournament hosted by Ocoee High School. The competition took place on Saturday, February 15 and our students had the most dominant performance in the history of Central Florida Science Olympiad.

In Division B, all four teams of 7th and 8th graders from Lynx Lane campus placed in the Top 10, receiving 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 9th places overall among 33 participating teams! Our younger teams of5th and 6th graders from Technology Drive campus were equally impressive. Two of them placed 7th and 8th overall, earning a spot at the state competition collecting many individual event medals along the way. In the end, OSS teams claimed six of the top 10 spots in Division B. Out of 23 events, our students received fifteen 1st place, seventeen 2nd place, and eight 3rd place medals.

In Division C, our teams got 1st and 3rd place overall. They received ten 1st place, eight 2nd place, and three 3rd place medals. While all of our competing Division C students made us very proud, others made us equally proud by NOT competing in the regional. Our most accomplished Division C team opted out competing at the regional, sacrificing individual glory to volunteer in supervising events. Their selfless action ensured all participating students had a much better experience. We are very proud of them. They missed out on medals but they were given a spot at the state competition for their excellent service to Central Florida Science Olympiad. We are sure they will shine equally bright when they compete at the state competition on March 21st.

We would like to extend our thanks and congratulations to all who contributed including coaches, parents and students and wish them good luck at the state tournament!
